Ensign arrived in the Les Cheneaux Islands
in 1965.

64 Ensigns are
now sailing in Les Cheneaux each summer.

Fleet 31’s
Ken Horsburgh was honored with Ensign National’s SEA-III
Award at last summer’s
Nationals
in Toms River, NJ. The SEA-III
Award was
named in
honor of Charles R. Sligh III and is
awarded
to a member
of the
Ensign Class who has exemplified exceptional service to
the class over
a long
period of time.

Ken has owned
five Ensigns, including his 1965 purchase of #915, the first one
in the Les Cheneaux
Islands.

He has
personally promoted and overseen the growth of the area’s large Ensign fleet.

His most recent
boat is #2000, the first Ensign Classic from Zeke Durika.
-
Now 87 years
old, Ken owns two Ensigns which are sailed almost daily each
summer by him, his
children and
grandchildren. The Horsburgh sailing group now total 17 Ensign
skippers.
