NOTICE OF RACE
1.
Rules:
1.1
The 2010 Ensign Class
National Championship will be governed by the rules as
defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012.
1.2
Cabin doors may be
eliminated.
2.
Eligibility and Entry:
2.1
The regatta is open to
members of the Ensign Class Association (ECA), who meet the
eligibility requirements stated in Section 6 of the ECA National
Championship Rules.
2.2
Those not qualifying under
Section 6 may petition the governing board for an exemption.
This exemption must be obtained no later than 2 months before
the National Regatta entries close.
2.3
Eligible boats may register
in advance by completing the official entry form online or on
hard copy and sending it with the appropriate fees to:

2.4
Late Entries: Entries
postmarked, hand delivered, or entered online after July 12,
2010 will not be accepted unless accompanied by a late fee of
$50.00. No entries will be accepted after 1600, August 15th,
2009.

5.
Measurement:
Only
sails without a measurement stamp from a prior Ensign Nationals
will be measured. Boats will be measured prior to the event and
may be randomly measured during the event.
6.
Sailing Instructions:
Sailing
Instructions will be available at the registration desk at
Hessel Marina.
7.
Venue:
7.1
Headquarters for the regatta
will be at Hessel Bay Marina.
7.2
The regatta will be conducted
in the general vicinity of Wilderness
Bay, Hessel,
MI. The sailing
instructions will have detailed locations.
8.
The Courses:
The
courses to be sailed will be selected from those recommended by
the ECA National Championship Rules, Section 10.
9.
Scoring:
Scoring
will be in accordance with ECA National Championship Rules. One
race must be completed to constitute a series. If 5 or more
races are completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of
her race scores excluding her worst score.
10.
Radios/Communication:
The use of
VHF radios will be permitted. VHF’s will be used to communicate
with the competitors.
11.
Prizes:
Prizes
will be in accordance with Section 3 of the National
Championship rules. Awards will also be given to the top ten
finishers in the Championship and to the winner of each race
including the practice race.
12.
Dockage:
Docking
will be available at the Hessel Bay Marina.
13.
Other Information:
Other
Information regarding social events, housing, directions,
borrowed boats, etc. will be available on the Ensign Fleet 31
website.
